SoccerPosted on September 15th, 2008 @ 1:02 am
Tommy has had 2 soccer games since the beginning of the season. They lost both, but they had a lot of fun and the coaches don’t put much emphasis on winning or losing, they try to push the kids to just play their positions.
Mr Landlord has finally been attentive to some of the repairs that have been needed on the house. He fixed the gate for the fence and attempted to “fix” the garage door. Someone is supposed to be coming Tuesday morning to give him a quote to replace it. He needs to just replace it with an aluminum door, and while he’s at it, add a garage door opener. We were finally able to find some paint that matches to cover up Alex’s artwork. Mr Landlord gave us no help on this matter, so Tom finally just cut a piece of the wall out so we could take it to be color matched. We went to Lowe’s to use up a gift card we had, but they were too busy to help, then they couldn’t get the color match machine to work. So, off to Home Depot, where Tom was in and out of the store with a matched gallon of paint in hand, along with spackle and sandpaper in less time than we were in Lowe’s. It pains us to see Alex’s wonderful masterpieces covered up, but I’m sure he’ll find many more blank canvases at the new place.
So, it’s late and the boys will need to be up early for school. Some pictures from soccer and the past couple of weeks.

back to school timePosted on August 31st, 2008 @ 9:51 am
The boys are back from visiting everyone in MI, we are back from our trip out to CA. We all had a good time, glad to be home and looking forward to getting back into school mode.
Tom and I thankfully did find a place to rent while we were out in CA, though the final answer didn’t come til we were home for 4 days. We do have a house though, which takes alot of pressure off of us. We looked at the school boundaries the other day and mapped out the distance of the school from our house, .9 miles. So, we are thinking about trying to walk the boys to school everyday. We need to get a list of the available utility companies in the next couple of weeks so we can find out about deposits and the costs to have all that turned on.
While the boys were gone Tom and I tackled the daunting task of cleaning out the garage. We had some mice sneaking in through the damaged garage door and they got into everything in the garage. We had to throw out so much stuff. I’m having to wash all of Tom’s gear that can go in the machine, what can’t he is taking to work next week & power washing. Mr. Landlord didn’t seem too concerned about any of it, said he would call first thing Friday morning to have someone come look at it. This came after he was, of course, an hour late. I could just scream at that man.
The boys are all set for school. We have all the necessary school supplies, minus the mysterious composition books and kindermat. Thankfully both the boys teachers said not to worry about those things. They have their backpacks with their stuff and some goodies they picked out for lunch. Anthony has his bus tag and asked to wear it yesterday. I hope that he remembers his room & his teacher. We won’t have any problems with Tommy, he has the same teacher he did last year. He really likes her, and we haven’t had any problems with her, so it was nice to see a familiar face at the Open House night.
