So many things
June 3rd, 2008 @ 8:43 am

So many things seem to always “go wrong” at the same time. I think it all started with the accidental GMAC payment back in the middle of May. Then our Direct TV bill went up almost $20. So then it was off to find a better deal. We finally settled on keeping our existing services with Verizon & Direct Tv (though this one wasn’t by choice, but more of a contractual obligation) and having them reduce our plans. Verizon cut our bill just over $20 and the tv was cut by $10. Funny though, Tom received a phone call from them yesterday saying that they “missed” our discount for having Verizon service so it will be credited on our next bill. I don’t know why the person I spoke with about our bill jumping $20 in one month didn’t notice that.

I know that gas prices are hurting everyone, but sometimes I wonder about our decision to get the Expedition. It’s a great truck, if it didn’t get such horrible gas mileage. We probably won’t get rid of it, especially after getting the new GPS unit installed (finally all the parts are installed and working, no thanks to the sales people at Best Buy for steering us in the right direction of getting all the components at the beginning so they could all be installed together). We just try not to go very many places that we don’t absolutely have to. It scares us to think how much it will cost us to drive out to CA later this year. As I saw it at about $3.50 a gallon it was going to cost us about $500 in gas alone just to go to MI and that trip is just under 600 miles. We are going to be driving 2600+ miles out to CA.

Tom is out in 29 Palms now for training, he will be back later in the month. Tommy’s last day of school is the 16th. I don’t know why the last day of school is a Monday. We are considering getting rid of our desktop since we don’t use it a whole lot anymore. I don’t know how much to ask for it, it’s almost a year old. It’s a nice computer and I don’t really want to part with it, but it makes sense in a way.

Well, there are toys everywhere that need to be put away. Sam & the kids are stopping by tonight on their way up to NY to visit family.

I’m so sorry to hear you are having such a tough time with GMAC. If you don’t get satisfaction soon, I would insist on speaking to the general manager of the dealership you turned the vehicle in to, and then to a supervisor at GMAC. Tell them you want compensation for your time and inconvenience and the negative impact this ‘incident’ may have on your credit report, and that your attorney is aware of the situation.
We’ve had an ongoing battle with AT&T since March 15 when we decided to change our phone, cable and internet service. I have a couple of their customer service reps on my speed dial because I’ve talked with them so many times. Every time I call I get another promise of resolution and compensation - everything now is up and running, but we’re still waiting on additional compensation and credits to our account, which today show a balance due of $375.00 on one page and $8.15 on another! I just tell them, I’m not paying until they get their act together.
I hope you get the car thing worked out soon . . it can really wear you down!
    Love ya lots
    Sue
