Typical Saturday night at our house
Posted on October 21st, 2007 @ 12:10 am

So, this is typical of a Saturday night at our house. Earlier we rushed around making dinner, stuffed ourselves (well Tommy, Tom and I did anyway), we watched a bit of a movie, the boys bugged and bugged to play games. So of course they played games until almost 11. They ran up to bed and so it was just us and Alex awake. Alex decided to stay up with us until 2:30am last night. Thankfully he went to sleep shortly after 12 tonight. Right now though, Tom is playing Halo 3 online with Jones and I am sitting here on the couch with my laptop watching. We are so exciting!

Tommy didn’t go on his fieldtrip on Friday, it rained. His friend Sam did come over today. I hope they had a good time. We had them play outside for a while, they had lunch, they played alot with the toys and they played games for a little bit.

Our next big goal is to get Tommy to ride his bike with no training wheels. We took them off on Friday, he’s not thrilled about it though. Hopefully we’ll get him more confident in himself and he’ll be off riding in no time.

Well, it is late and the kiddos will be up early in the morning so I should close this up and head upstairs.

Another new “milestone”

I forgot to write in yesterday’s post about Tommy’s school stuff. We got a progress report and his teacher said she really enjoys working with him and he is meeting all the expectations of his grade level. She also said that in the PALS assessment they do at the beginning of the year he scored a 48 and the benchmark is 39 and he is reading at a pre-primer level. I’m not sure what “level” that means, but a week or so before she sent a note home saying that all the kids were reading at the same level, so I don’t assume that he’s behind or anything.

Tommy has also conquered tying his shoes. I realize that this is something he probably should have already known how to do, but all last year he had shoes that had a velcro close. He spent about 20 minutes working with his dad on figuring out how to tie his shoes and now he does it himself every morning before school. I only tighten them a bit and double knot them for him.

He’s doing pretty good in school, he hasn’t complained about it at all. He has homework every night and we read every night. He had fun picking out some new books from the store. Once he’s gone through these a few times and the mountain of other books we have ;) We will look into getting a library card for him.
